I have chosen math manipulative's that I know my kindergarten students will need and use on a regular basis. The connecting rods could be used in both a whole group or small group setting—to teach students methods of counting, making 10, grouping, and counting by 10. They will benefit them in a multitude of ways by becoming an asset to their learning. The sorting bears will be used for a variety of activities from sorting by size, color, to teaching to count. I really want to incorporate a listening station into the early childhood classroom. A CD player would be an awesome way for this to take place, and with extra ports for headphones, more than one student at a time could benefit from the listening center. From listening to stories, with a follow-up activity for retell and comprehension to CDs over letter sounds. The children would enjoy and greatly learn from this. The stools would stay located at a small group table in my room. This use of flexible seating will help with the fidgety friends focusing and easily store for extra room in the classroom.
