I teach at an elementary school with 750 students. My students are English learners who struggle with school content. Most of them are from low-income families, where the parents live away from their children because of work. School has been a significant part of their lives; making friends, adopting cultures, and expanding their talents. In my digital art lessons, students will use iPads as a learning tool to explore art forms. They will study composition, color, and lighting of photography. In connection to contemporary art, they will sketch drawings on the screen. As students gain expertise, they will create a stop-motion animation with peers, helping them work collaboratively. My students will enjoy digital art lessons, where they can use modern tools to create meaningful artwork. As a Title I school, iPads in my classroom will help engage my students' artistic learning and promote social-emotional support.
