My students are so incredible in so many ways, that I want to be able to give them the avenue to express themselves and create! We need lots of coloring tools so we can work on projects that help us understand our novels in a creative way! We also work on performance skills and presentations, so they lecture will give us students a chance to feel in charge of their own future and how others perceive them! One of the most important things for my students is for them to feel comfortable within our classroom. Having pillows accessible them allows them to read along with the class in a way that is not rigid or stressful for them. It also provides them with the idea of home and being welcomed within my room. We have so many novels and characters to meet in such a short time, that we want to give everyone, both the students and all the characters along the way, a place to feel safe and welcomed. Working in a Title I school means that a good portion of my students do not have access to basic school supplies. This includes things such as pencils. Having a large supply of writing utensils for my students sets them up for success because they will definitely be ready for their classes, no matter what the subject!
