In music class, percussion instruments make songs, sounds, and stories come to life! Instruments allow even the shy at heart to make big sounds and explore many musical possibilities. Every time they see the instrument tubs sitting out, students know they're going to have fun in music class. My students are so thankful that they get to play instruments in music class. One of our goals this year is to identify and categorize instruments by their sounds. Having guiros, egg shakers, and other rhythmic percussion allows the students to experience hands-on learning through gross motor activities.
