My students typically struggle when it comes to reading and writing. Due to their disability and that English is not their primary language, reading and writing is an ongoing struggle for them. Most of these students are coming to fourth grade needing to learn how to read not learning how to read to learn. My school has an excellent reading program, however, when paired with technology the potential of this program soars! My school has a great reading program that helps students overcome the aforementioned challenges. However, in order for students to fully utilize this program, their work must be tracked online. Laptops are available, however they often are not working, have missing keys and cannot keep up with the technological demands of the reading program. This is why I am requesting a new laptop. As I conference individually with my students, they will be able to access their goals and view their accomplishments. Claiming a sense of accomplishment can further push them to their highest potential!
