The old adage says,"When you look good, you feel good" and this truly applies to our students. Often times, our students will avoid school because they do not have any clothing to wear or what they do have is dirty and they do not have the means to launder them. Their solution is to avoid school so they will not be embarrassed or humiliated. If they decide to brave school with unwashed clothes, they will often act out to avoid interactions with peers or staff. If we had extra clothing, along with the appliances and the set up for them to wash the clotheing , it can be scheduled into the school day and will help the student avoid embarrassment WHILE learning essential life skills. The simple things in life are often taken for granted. At times, our students do not have the luxury of clean or weather appropriate clothing. These things can effect their attendance, their performance in school and their ability to function to their potential in the community.
