For some of my students, my classroom is their safe place, their constant, or even their home. These materials will make my students feel more welcome and comfortable in the classroom, which will not only help with academics but so much more. Flexible seating provides the opportunity for students to build a community, collaborate, and make their own choices. They get to choose how they best learn, interact, and grow. Flexible seating helps students to get out of their comfort zone. They learn how to communicate and compromise. Flexible seating builds character. Students become more engaged, interactive, and outgoing. They learn how to self regulate and share. I’ve had flexible seating in my classroom for almost a year, and I can’t ever imagine going back to traditional seating. It is the best decision I have ever made as a teacher. My students are truly their best selves and work very hard when they feel comfortable. Flexible seating has made it so each student can be accommodated to, whether it is special needs or personal preferences. I am requesting for such materials as beanbags, balance balls, and Wobble Cushions, because the ones I purchased out of pocket have been thrown out or worn down. I would love to make our classroom more welcoming, safe, and the best place possible to learn. Thank you!!
