Having these dry erase boards that include fraction lines, arrays, and tape diagrams bars will strengthen my students' 3rd grade mathematics foundation skills. Fractions are something that students struggle with so much in 3rd grade. It is so abstract for students to move from realizing that in between whole numbers are actually parts of whole numbers that we call fractions. These boards will help students be able to use the fractional number lines on them to practice and build a deeper understanding of what fractions are. As an added bonus, these boards also include array models. Arrays can be used to teach multiplication, area, and even perimeter. All of these are skills that are crucial in 3rd grade. These boards will be a great tool for small groups when I am working with struggling students. They can also be used independently by students that are on grade level to get extra practice or to help them peer-tutor another student. These boards would be a great addition to our classroom.
