Inner city students don't often get the chance to see the potential of art as a career. In my school, we are limited with 1-3 computers per classroom (all Mac models made before 2011) and chromebook carts used for testing and pilot math/literacy programs. While discussing graphic design with my 8th grade students one day, it dawned on me that it was near impossible to fully engage them with the opportunity to experience working in a digital format. I realized that if we could get tablets for the students, we could use simple drawing, graphics and even animation programs. In a world where some of the only things that unite the under-privileged students in the country with those more well off is art, music, and well. Fort Nite, its important to bridge that gap and show kids that they can make a career out of this!
