Our school is in a large urban area in Illinois. We serve a highly diverse population in both an economic and ethnic sense. We are richer for this and in my class often use personal experience to create short plays and choral readings. From this my students get a better understanding of one another and an appreciation for all people. I have the privilege of working with a fantastic student body. I proudly acclaim my class as one of the hardest working groups of youngsters in the city. Although, we are not labeled a gifted and talented school, we score just below the school identified as such on our State Achievement Tests. This is possible because of the make up of our students, families, and staff. With additional help I know we can even surpass our excellent record.
