Fostering creativity in my kindergarten classroom will not only give the students a chance of becoming the next Van Gogh. It will also help them develop emotionally, socially, and mentally. Creating art will also boost the student's ability to analyze and problem solve with wood pieces. The students will also be able to create abstract structures using wood pieces, craft tape, glue, ceramic tiles, and the peel and stick foam cubes. The best part is that they will be able to display them for others to see and later be able to take them home to share their hard work and creativity with their family members. By counting pieces and colors they are learning basic math using corks and buttons. Once they count the material they will be ready to create projects such as wreaths, flowers and attach them to wire. When they experiment with material they are immersed in science by feeling the texture on sandpaper and using a tote bag to create a self-portrait and adding jewels to it to make it one of a kind! Most important, when students are having fun and laughing while they are creating, art will help their self-confidence, feel free to find different ways of thinking and creating. The ultimate goal is for them to emerge with passion and become self-motivators.
