Graphic novels are a great resource for students to use who struggle with science vocabulary and concepts about things in science which are too small to see, even with a microscope. The reading is short but very relevant. The illustrations allow students to connect the ideas and vocabulary. ESL and Special Needs students will better keep up with other students and have a deeper understanding of what we are learning. The format of a graphic novel is helpful for students who aren't reading on grade level or who speak English as a second language. For some students, it's a different way to reinforce what they already know.
