I'd like to start off the school year by purchasing journals for my English Language Learners to write in each day to help improve their writing skills and practice new vocabulary. Classroom teachers give parents supply lists but I don't want to burden parents with one additional purchase, as many are juggling several jobs to support their families. ESOL students will use these journals each day to express themselves and respond to writing prompts in order for them to improve their English. In order to exit the ESOL program, students need to increase the amount of time they spend writing each day. With these journals, we can track their growth throughout the year. Students will draw pictures and write about different texts they are reading and will have a book to keep at the end of the year and share with their families.
