Play is the natural way children express themselves. I have chosen to utilize a sand tray to foster their creativity and help them express their thoughts and feelings. Puppets will also allow students to speak within a metaphor as opposed to exposing themselves when they are not ready. Play therapy techniques are used encourage communication, regulate emotions, promote problem solving, and many more developmental positives needed to help all students be the best they can be. When some students come to school, they are ready to learn; unfortunately, others are preoccupied with an unpredictable home life. With these supplies, students will be able to have an outlet within the school that allows them the time they need to express themselves. Without these opportunities, students are at risk for negative behaviors that take away from their learning experiences in the classroom.
