My students spend 30-45 minutes everyday honing their writing skills writing in a variety of different genres all linked to the common core. They enjoy writing time and are always trying to edit their work for improvements by practicing on dry erase boards, or using a pen to make corrections. Dry erase markers dry up quickly and blue or black pens are not always appealing to young children. Colored pencils and new dry erase markers will help with the editing phase of writing. When it comes to publishing their work, they are limited to the paper choices and writing instruments. Currently, they just have crayons and limited colored paper choices. Getting this funded will help liven up my writing center and make their published writing pieces more artistically impressive.
