My student population is 98% low SES and my classroom, sadly, fits right in their lives. My classroom has hand-me-down desks that do not match and have all kinds of "fun" drawings engraved in them. Some desks are missing the foot on a leg so they wobble as they sit. Some of the seats are loose which make sitting uncomfortable. Other desks are not flat anymore so if they set their pencil down, it rolls off to the floor. I would love to make my room more comfortable and inviting to foster their learning. I want them to WANT to come to math class!
