Your typical second grade classroom today looks very different from the one many of us grew up with. Each day, my students are challenged to put aside what makes them spunky seven year olds and transform into scholars ready to attack the rigorous curriculum presented to them daily. While I couldn't be more proud of the success my students achieve, it doesn't come without a price - ants in their pants! How do you expect children to be successful with ants in their pants? The therabands will be placed on each child's desk and the wiggle seats shared to help us wiggle while we work. Research shows movement reduces anxieties and leads to productivity. Who wouldn't want that for all students?
