Many of our students come to us tired, hungry, and sometimes angry from something that happened at home that was not in their control. The hourglass timer will allow students to calm down, while being timed in our cool down center which is busy around the clock. After they complete a think sheet explaining their anger, they can lay down and watch the sand slowly fall, allowing them to forget and then be able to move on with their day of learning. The noise canceling earmuffs will allow our scholars the power of choice when it comes to their productive learning environment. We want them to be in control of how they learn best by offering them some peace and quiet to focus in a room that is always busy. We already have privacy offices, but it often isn't enough for the student who is sensitive to noise and is easily agitated. We already have two pairs, but that is not enough because we want to allow them ALL the chance to learn in a way that is best for them.
