I am requesting 5 Chromebooks to be used in my math classroom. Incorporating technology in meaningful ways engages students. Along with using Google Classroom, there is an online program with a downloadable app that works as a video journal. Both of these tools empower students to be engaged and accountable for their own learning as well as the learning of others. Through this digital media, students and teachers can add artifacts of learning like classroom notes and resources. Photos, video clips, text and links can be added to enhance classroom curriculum on a daily basis, directly from the classroom. Students could present a tutorial lesson on how a math problem is solved, record their lesson, and post for others to access. Web-based programs become helpful tools for classroom involvement in the math learning, which can carry over as an at-home resource once students have practiced using them in the classroom. Students can access helpful tools and tutorials, complete additional practice, post their own questions for classmates to solve, get help on specific questions, and play games related to the math learning target IN the class if given technology to support this. This can also extend their involvement beyond class time.
