When my students are diving into reading they need new and exciting ways to create a love for reading. Having headphones and new stools will allow them to have a space to listen to some of their favorite books on CD. It is important to create a love for reading, as reading is the foundation for many skills. The pretend phones will allow the kids to retell their story to their partner in a fun and exciting way. Providing ways to allow children to have fun while reading and keeping them interested is key. Allowing them to use manipulatives while reading and listen to their favorite books will help create that love for reading that is key for their future. By making reading fun and exciting, it will reinforce a positive message that reading is attainable and fun for everyone. Having access to quick reading interventions, such as auditory memory questions will allow teachers to give children quick interventions throughout their busy day. This donors choose grant will help us gain access to more hands on learning while integrating more fun and excitement into our Kindergarten reading groups.
