All of my students have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to help them bridge gaps in their classes. I teach a replacement English class, and together we cover the material at a more relaxed pace. I want to show them that books don't have to be long to be inspirational, and that words, when used thoughtfully, can have an enormous impact. We will read The Great Gatsby together and pour over it's beauty at our own pace. We plan to read the entire book together in class, but I encourage them to bring books home as well. Together we will discover what symbolism in great literature looks like and how it impacts our views of what we read.
