Our school focuses on the importance of literacy, and this is my first year with an Advisory. Advisory is a group of students I will spend the next three years with encouraging and inspiring them to read and look at reading as a pleasure and not a chore. I am only a second year teacher and have a limited amount of books in my library. This makes it difficult to push my students to read and offer a variety of literature in different reading ranges. Our students spend at least 1 hour a day reading with me, and I want them to spend more time reading books they are interested in than looking through my library or lack thereof for something they may like. These series like Unfortunate Events and Harry Potter and others are all books they have requested. These books will allow my students to grow and build a love for reading over the course of the next three years. I know this is a lot to ask for but as you know we call our advisory the "Dream Team" and we like to dream big.
