Flexible seating is not only about creating cozy and attractive Instagram worthy classrooms. Ultimately for me it is about my students. Flexible seating not only provides an environment that is ideal for collaboration, but it helps students get moving and supports physical health. Flexible seating also allows students choice which is imperative for high school students. By allowing students to sit where they feel comfortable they are taking charge of their education and ensuring they are engaged through lessons. The Buschman Galvanized stools will give students another option of seating for students and would help them collaborate at a table. The Big Joe bean bag chairs will be located in my reading lounge so students can be comfortable while doing independent reading. The other seating options will be located around the room to encourage collaboration, and the 30 pack of Hardboard Clipboards will offer a surface for students to write on while moving about the room during stations time. This project will not only change my classroom, but will allow me to change my teaching--to a 21st century outlook. This will empower and engage my students while also allowing me to change my teaching strategies.
