A document camera would benefit my class in so many ways. We can share students' published stories. Students will have visual representations of maps, diagrams, and other text features to help them with their own research. In our reading and writing programs I use mentor texts. In writing, for example, I could project the text up on the board so that everyone could see the words the author chose and the text features such as speech bubbles and illustrations. For Math, it is easier to project the workbook page on the board so my students have a visual to follow along with rather than trying to look at me, look at their workbook and follow directions. This is especially important for my ELL students who need visuals to help them understand. We could use it for Science, STEM, and Social Studies projects where again, multiple copies of printed materials are not available. A document camera would allow us to interact with the text as well.
