The Literacy Block model at my school suggests at least three read aloud stories per day as well as independent reading time for students on a daily basis. Our current classroom library is very small and does not give the students much variety. Many of the books I selected will allow me to plan for thematic units to build my students' learning through intentional read aloud time and provide them with more variety when they are searching for books that they want to learn to read on their own! Books such as "Pete the Cat" and "No, David!" are exciting to my students and will promote their growing interest in reading and the world of books!
