Trying to teach 21st century learning skills is challenging when I do not have a class set of Chromebooks or computers. My project is for four additional Chromebooks for our classroom (we currently only have four and I have a total of 44 students). These four Chromebooks would directly benefit my students as they would be able to use them on a regular basis to learn, work, and become great technology users in the classroom. My students will greatly benefit from having Chromebooks at their fingertips housed in our classroom. I have used many programs that have allowed students opportunities to practice keyboarding, learn reading concepts and skills (at their own pace), and collaboratively work together and with me through Google Classroom. It is crucial for my students to have sound keyboarding skills as they have to take a big third grade test in Ohio in order to pass to the fourth grade. It is called the "Third Grade Reading Guarentee" and they take an assessment on the Chromebooks to test their knowledge in reading. My students are great readers and I want to make sure they are completely comfortable on the Chromebooks before they take this test so they do not need to worry about anything but doing their best!
