The fairy tale books I selected for this project will allow my students to examine a different genre of literature that many of my students have not been exposed to. Many of them have never heard of and much less studied a fairy tale and are unaware of this type of literature. By implementing these books in to our literary unit, they will have an opportunity for close reading of the materials as well as have access to them in our classroom library to read for enjoyment. As we study these books, my students will learn the skills necessary to become fluent and independent readers. These books will make a great impact in my students' reading success in a fun and engaging way. These materials will also give my students the opportunity to put the skills they gain to use through reader's theater. This will enhance my students reading skills and confidence by having them practice reading with a purpose. It will give students a real reason to read aloud. My goal is to arm my students with the skills necessary to become successful readers. These materials will help me in my mission to accomplish that goal.
