Our school began a STEAM class this year that reaches all students in the school, K-5. As the STEAM teacher, my responsibility is to bring lessons to the students that incorporate engineering design challenges, technology, and coding/robots. Since our STEAM class is new, it will take lots of money and supplies to get it up and running to full capacity. Teaching coding and robotics to younger students is always a challenge. Since I have found Botley, the task has become easier. These robots are great for students as young as Kindergarten and as old as second grade. These robots also do not require any Internet connection which is great since our school Internet does not allow for many things to connect to it. I would like to have 4 sets of these robots, so that I can break the students into small groups and use them. The more the students get hands-on experience, the quicker they learn. Our state is also implementing computer science standards next year, so these would be a great addition to the curriculum.
