My classroom consists of more than 60% free and reduced. We’re looking to get away from traditional paper/pencil and add more STEM-based activities to encourage problem-solving skills at the earliest level of education. It’s no secret that at this age, children learn through doing and hands-on experiences. It’s important that kids learn the value of perseverance, teamwork, collaboration, and critical thinking in a fun and interactive way. I want to help my kids understand that they can “fail successfully” by identifying the problem(s), adjusting the plan, and making improvements to their design can lead to success. These supplies, tools, and manipulatives would allow the kids to learn STEM lessons during a foundational year and at a developmentally appropriate level. This will lead to life-long learning, curiosity, growth, and success as they continue on their journey. These materials will also be shared and used across K-3 classrooms in my district.
