After so many of my students suffered such great personal loss, due to Hurricane Harvey, I want to create a bright, engaging and safe place for them to learn. My students are dealing with harsh realities and extreme chaos in their lives trying to recover and rebuild from the storm. School should be a safe refuge, if only for a few hours a day. I want to create a space where they can escape from outside stress and anxiety, that is also a functioning learning environment. This can be done with alternate seating options and bright colorful surroundings. I've included some anxiety tools to be available to students who need them.
