These calculators will help students bypass the easier steps in mathematics so that they can focus on newer, more difficult steps. It is crucial for middle school students to have access to scientific calculators. Having my own classroom set would mean that the students parents would not be forced to provide their children with their own calculator. Calculators would save my students time when learning new topics in math. Time is crucial in the classroom. With more time, the students can learn more material. I know my students know how to use long division and multiply fractions by hand, but having them do it as a step in something so more complex wastes time. Especially when it is not what I am assessing them on. I want to create more time in the classroom for my students to practice the new material.
