The books I'm requesting for my students offer a wide range of genre while demonstrating cultural diversity. These books, in the hands of my second graders, will accomplish both as they will see examples of diverse cultures while learning a variety of genres. We have diverse faces in our classroom and we need them in our books! Everyone, including children, wants and needs to feel connections. These materials will help my students feel connected to books, people and the world. I hope you'll be able to help us see ourselves in the history, science, poetry and literature of the world.
