A sand/sensory table will allow students to have a break from learning and academics while working on self-regulation, cognitive, and calming skills. Students will have the opportunity to utilize various sensory materials such as sand, foam, rice, and water to build cognitive skills including labeling, matching, counting and organizing. Students will have opportunities to refine fine motor skills, learn new vocabulary, and explore new textures and objects. Sensory tables greatly benefit students that struggle with hyperactivity, organization, Autism, and anxiety by capturing their attention and allowing their growing minds to focus on and enjoy the task at hand.
