The physical education equipment for which I have requested funding will greatly enhance the experience of my students from K5-5th grades. My students crave new and exciting things when they come to physical education. We also build teamwork and life skills into many of our activities and games. The spike ball sets are perfect for our older students to use skills acquired from other sports and apply them to a fast paced and new game. We have always done a Frisbee unit with all grade levels and the Disk Slam Set will enhance the students' experience within that unit. Both of these equipment sets will allow our physical education program to build up a strong foundation and offer new and exciting activities. Life long skills and games are an important part of our physical education curriculum. All of the equipment requested will be used to build a strong foundation of fun and enjoyment with physical activity. Blindfolds will help build a community of trust with each student as they lead another student through tasks. We can build teamwork skills only when we have built trust first. Bean bags still have a strong presence in the physical education setting. Students learn tossing and catching skills at a young age. It is amazing to see students self esteem and confidence improve when using equipment that is developmentally appropriate. I find it very important to incorporate health into my physical education program. My goal is to bring health to life and teach it in a way that even my K5 students can understand. The tunnel is mainly for a Heart obstacle course that I have created. The tunnel will give the students a real perspective of how blood flows through the heart and its different chambers and blood vessels.
