Flexible seating like the Wobble stool gives students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them and helps them work collaboratively, communicate and engage in critical thinking. The Wobble stools base is slightly rounded on the bottom, allowing for a gentle rocking movement. This provides sensory input to the child's vestibular system which will assist him to learn more effectively in the classroom. Ensuring that children are comfortable allows the student to stay focused on the task which will improve off task behavior. “Studies on classroom seating suggest that sustained sitting in regular classroom chairs is unhealthy for children’s bodies, particularly their backs” (Schilling &Schwartz, 2004, p. 36). Using alternative seating provides students with movement during lessons and will potentially improve student performance.
