My students vary in age from 3-9 and all have speech and language deficits. Not only does this make communicating difficult, but it highly impacts their success in reading and writing. They often pronounce words incorrectly and then transcribe them incorrectly into their classroom work. Many students struggle with hearing the difference between some of their sounds, particularly vowels. Due to the range in severity of my students' disorders and their need to learn in a non-traditional manner, they need more "hands on" ways of learning than their traditional peers. Speech Pathologists typically do not have full sized classrooms so our cars become traveling offices. I enjoy the variety of my day and working in a small, close knit community.
