Being an inner-city school we have limited resources as it is but as an alternative program, we struggle to be equipped with the technology that is needed to help enhance our students learning. All of my students have accounts for i-Ready, Wonders, and LexiaCore 5, however, our access to computers is extremely limited, as the majority of the computers and laptops handed down to us are constantly under repair or unusable. Our curriculum is placing a huge emphasis on the online portion of these programs, and unfortunately my students are usually never able to participate. My biggest goal for my students is for them to be able to read! These programs provide them with tailored learning to capitalize on their strengths and help them work through their weaknesses to become successful readers. After all, if you can read, you can do anything!
