My school is a title one school with a 96% black population, 3% Hispanic, and 1% white. We are located in the middle of a gang-populated area where violence is a common denominator in all our students' lives. Many of our students are in gangs now; many see no other options. Some of our students want better than they have, but see no realistic way of achieving the life they want. By opening their eyes to different experiences in our Health and PE classes, I hope to give them ideas of different options that are attainable.
