The materials and supplies requested are needed to keep my classroom sensory friendly. The light filters will soften the florescent lights overhead. The classroom lights are turned off and on throughout the day to accommodate student needs. The light filters over the student desk area will decrease eye strain. The rubber bands will be stretched over the chair legs to create a way for students to wrap their feet in to get a rocking feeling without rocking back and forth in their chairs which is safer! Sensory breaks are provided with fidget opportunities to meet the needs of the students. Some students find squeezing, pulling, or wiggling calming. These new fidgets will offer safe calming activities.
