My students are primarily English language learners from low income or migrant families. Most of them get little inspiration and support for their education from their families. Our school is located in a small town in Central California where farm workers and factory workers make up the majority of the population. Many students come and go as the work opportunities shift in the area and we usually have two or three students every year in my class that are brand new to the country and even brand new to school at all!
