Each day my first graders visit different literacy stations in order to work on their literacy skills to become better readers and writers. One of their FAVORITE stations to visit is the listening station! Listening skills are an important part of communication skills. Children need to focus on learning listening skills, even more so at the elementary level. It has been said that listening has three parts to it: (1) hearing the speaker, (2) understanding what the speaker is saying and (3) making a judgment based on that understanding. With a new listening station (and headphones), I could broaden my classroom listening and technology center. It is important for our students to become active listeners at a young age. These resources would help me do that with my First grade class. As an elementary teacher, I know that listening is important to a child's development. With the use of a new listening station set used in conjunction with book and CD sets, my First grade students could engage in a listening center to reinforce listening skills. You can help us by donating to this project so my First grade students can have a wonderful listening center to listen to our wonderful books.
