It would be beneficial for my students to have graphic novels in order to excite and encourage them to be willing to read. Often, older students get turned off of reading because it's too intimating. Graphic novels help students get the same content as a traditional book but presents it in an easier and more fun manner. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. Hopefully, they will get hooked on reading and be successful in my class as an independent reader.
