In our classroom students love to have their own choices of where to work throughout the day. They choose to sit at lowered tables, stand at taller tables, or sit on crates. I would love to offer more options especially for my students who need more motion and movement throughout the day. I have experienced the benefit of how rocker chairs and wobble stools have helped students who need to wiggle. I am asking for a variety of flexible seating options: wobble stools and cushions, stadium seats, and floor cushions that research has supported to contribute to better attention/focus, less restlessness, and increased participation. Allowing children some control over where they sit turns them into problem solvers who can identify how they’re feeling and choose what works best for them. Kids aren’t meant to sit still all day long. They need motion, movement and choice and this will help meet this need. They will love school and feel successful at an early age!!
