Having the the use of their own headphones with their Google Chromebooks will make such a big difference while students are completing online Social Studies and Science assignments. Without headphones, I would normally have to caution kids to be sure to "turn the volume down" because it would disturb others trying to hear. With headphones, the problem of disturbing each other goes away. A camera is also needed to document Science and Social Studies projects. We will use the headphones in Social Studies to conduct online research on famous American Revolution men and women. Students will research the person through teacher made links. Some of these links have great videos that the students can view and listen to independently with these headphones. We will use the camera to document our STEM project titled "Can You Build Dorothy ( from The Wizard of Oz) a House That Can Withstand a Tornado". Students are given a certain amount of different materials and they have to build a model of a house that can withstand a tornado ( a hair dryer). Students in each group will take pictures that document their step-by-step process. These pictures will be displayed on Science STEM night at our Title I school. By donating these headphones and camera to my classroom, you will be opening up the world to my students- giving them the confidence to explore their own creativity and the ability to document it also.
