Every classroom should have an industrial pencil sharpener. I walk into classrooms every day and see students attempting to write with a dull pencil that has barely any lead visible at all. When I ask them where their pencil sharpener is the response is, "It's broken." Sharpened pencils should be the last thing a teacher needs to worry about. Providing a commercial quality pencil sharpener will allow the teachers to focus on teaching and students on learning. A heavy duty sharpener will hold up to the use of elementary students for years, but school districts don't provide them and the cost for one isn't something a teacher should have to pay for out of pocket.
