We will integrate Social Studies and Literacy with these books. Three classes will benefit from reading these books, since I teach Social Studies to two fifth grade classes. This is an award winning novel. The character is close to the age of my students. They will be able to relate to the main character. These books will make learning about the Civil War more interesting and exciting. These novels will help them relate to the events of the time by reading about a character their age. As a final project, my students will conduct a research project and make a technology-based presentation.
