My students need Dell Chromebooks to explore and expand their learning in all content areas. Our students will vastly benefit from access to this technology. One way these Dells will be utilized is through several online programs our school and district provides for students, such as IXL, Hybridge/Odyssey, Google Classroom, and Typing Agent. Unfortunately, despite having great programs, our budget does not allow for each student to have a device. Thanks to technology, I am able to give real-time feedback, help with corrections, and teach the importance of reliable sources, online presence, and cyber-safety to the students. The students know how to use technology for fun, but I want them to see technology as a tool for learning, creating, and working cooperatively with people from all over the world. With my class being in Alaska, it is very difficult to take field trips or experience outdoor classes, since temperatures reach close to 50 degrees below zero. Computers would allow the opportunity to chat with others from the Lower 48, take virtual field trips, and experience a world of adventures without bundling up from head to toe.
