The general population of students at my low-income middle school are slowly gaining access to class sets of Chromebooks; however, our Resource Specialist Teachers do not have their own cart of Chromebooks for the department and students. This means that our students in our Strategies for Success class, and students who we provide specialized academic services to outside of their general education classes, do not have the ability to access and interact with content in a way that is sure to allow them to achieve and demonstrate competency in their core content classes. Additionally, Chromebooks for our students will grant them access to their accommodations such as text-to-speech functionality, interactive websites that provide readings to them at their instructional level, access to google classroom assignments and immediate feedback, tools to develop their technological competency, practice with state tests which are now all computerized, plus much, much more.
