Students need the opportunity and resources that will result in being both more informed in the topic of instruction and more effective analyzers of information. By supplying them with a wide variety of text, both electronically and in print, kids can learn that there are resources available to them in school and in libraries that may be free of charge. Reading is THE skill. Teaching students to unlock the full meaning of texts they read is the single most powerful outcome a teacher can foster. I can model reading strategies by using the document camera in a whole group or small group setting. It helps enlarge the text and promote shared reading. The kindle fire will help show students what electronic resources are available that are free or can be purchased at a minimum cost. It will also help store books electronically so it'll always be there if a natural disaster occurs. It will also be easier to share with other teachers by simply lending the Kindle with stored texts.
