Our classroom is arranged so that the children are given a variety of seating options. Research says that children learn best when they are comfortable and feel free to take risks. Also, children learn better when they are allowed to move and fidget. A noticable difference over the years is how much more active children are and how the need for alternative seating is more apparent than ever. Ball chairs, wiggle cushions and wobble chairs provide children with the opportunity to move while staying focused on their learning. I am requesting 2 wobble stools to get started with this type of alternative seating options for my students. This will provide them with the much needed ability to move while staying focused.
